Austin Clark began his academic journey studying engineering before discovering his passion for design and transferring to the College for Creative Studies. Growing up in a small community where design wasn’t widely known, Austin was always artistic but hadn’t yet found his creative path. After college, he went on to work at Stanley Black & Decker, where over a four-year period, he designed more than 18 power tools for major brands like Black & Decker, Craftsman, and DeWalt, working on both indoor and outdoor tools.
After his time at Stanley Black & Decker, Austin joined the design consultancy Tactile Inc. There, he worked with a diverse range of clients in industries such as tech, medical, consumer goods and professional tools. During his time at Tactile, he developed new skills, including mastery of Grasshopper, a program used to create complex and organic patterns and textures.
In addition to his professional work, Austin returned to the College for Creative Studies as an adjunct professor and has been teaching Grasshopper for four years. Recently he began working in Cinema 4D, expanding his expertise into production visualization, animation, and marketing imagery. Austin’s career reflects his ability to merge technical skill with creative vision, making him a versatile and innovative designer.
